"Pair Of Art Nouveau Painted Panels"
Very pretty pair of panels with Japanese decoration of wading birds in a landscape. Japonism enjoyed great success in the field of decorative arts and decorative painting from the Second Empire and until the 1900s. These two painted canvases, probably in tempera or gouache on a very fine fabric (probably silk), are characteristic of this taste for the Orient. The painter, whose monogram appears on each of the panels (CL), was able to skillfully play with material effects, leaving the background in reserve in many places. The name of the artist remains to be identified, from the monogram. Dim excluding frames - 127 cm x 54.5 cm
