This rug is from the first part of the 20th century between 1930 and 1950 and is in very good condition.
The colors are natural, of an original size which makes it an unusual piece. This rug is of wonderful quality and great finesse and softness.
Camel wool and camel wool products are of great finesse combined with angora goat mohair which also provides softness.
Camel hair is an animal fiber harvested from camels. The most satisfying camel fiber comes from Bactrian camels (two humps).
There are two types of camel wool – the outer protective wool called guard hair, which is coarse and stiff, and the fine, shorter fiber of the undercoat which is the insulation.
Natural camel wool yarn generally presents itself with a golden sheen with shades of red in the light or even brown.
One of the benefits of camel hair is that it provides warmth without added weight.
The hair is renowned for its thermostatic properties which can protect and insulate the animal from extreme cold conditions as well as keep it cool in the hot desert.
The same qualities are transferred when producing fabrics woven from camel wool.
A relatively rare rug, for the floor, soft for a sofa, or even extraordinary for wall decoration. (my second copy)
This piece has been professionally and ecologically cleaned.
