"Italian Knife, Late 19th Century"
Knife blade with a marked ricasso, an elegant asymmetrical line and its counter-edged edge on the last third. Unusually shaped silver guard reminiscent of older forms. Original horn fuse garnished with silver ferrules and fillets. The pommel is set with a silver coin of 50 centimes of lire with the portrait of Vittorio Emanuele II, dated 1863 and signed Ferraris. Vittorio Emanuele II (1820-1878) was Duke of Savoy, King of Sardinia, Prince of Piedmont and Count of Nice from 1849 to 1861, then - at the time of unification - King of Italy from 1861 to 1878.
Good condition, no play, pitting on the first half of the blade, slight twist at the tip.
