Made of terracotta and painted blue for the scales, hair and tail, it is one of the symbols of Denmark.
Invented by Carl Jacobsen, it was the Danish Edvard Eriksen who created the sculpture to pay homage to the short story writer Hans Christian Andersen and his masterpiece : the Little Mermaid.
Very good state.
We note a very small hole behind the mermaid's right arm and another underneath.
