"Important Terracotta Park Sculpture "lion", Italy Late 18th Century"
Important terracotta Park Sculpture depicting a "Seated Lion" on a rectangular terrace. Originally, it is possible that our lion placed its front paw on a coat of arms carved separately and brought back (perhaps in marble) today missing and representing the arms of the noble family whose property it decorated; this remains a hypothesis and the sculpture is spectacular and is perfectly sufficient in itself presented in this way. Large in size, with a nervous and very expressive rendering, this piece is presented in good general condition despite the presence of some reinforcements, cracks and old regluing. Beautiful old patina and obvious presence for this set. Ideal for a strong decorative element, both indoors and outdoors.... Italian work from the end of the 18th century. Be careful, heavy part which requires the presence of two strong people to be handled safely. NB/ Transport costs at the choice and responsibility of the purchaser.
