"Sword Made In Steel, Of Iranian Origin, Late 18th Century"
Steel-made sword of Iranian origin, dating from the late 18th/early 19th century, commonly referred to as a "shamshir" or scimitar. The steel blade is richly damascened in gold near the heel and is decorated with two floral cartouches bearing a signature. The handle has a right-angled bend ending in a steel cap, with a flare made of brown horn plates. The guard is also damascened in gold. On the blade, the inscriptions "Amal-e-Asad-Allah" symbolize the work of the lion of God, and on the other side: "bande-ye Velayat Abbas". The dimensions of the sword are 87 cm.
