"Art Deco Egyptomania Pendant"
Rectangular Art Deco pendant in gold and silver representing a winged beetle in a fine pearl frame whose corners are decorated with lotus leaf motifs. The scarab is entirely set with stones such as sapphire, emerald and diamond. It is topped with a disc, a sapphire mounted as a cabochon. This pendant is characteristic of jewelry produced in the 1920s. Indeed, with the discovery of the tomb of Tutankhamun by Lord Carnarvon in 1922, we witnessed the development of Egyptomania in the art of adornment. Thus, this winged beetle holding the solar disk between its legs embodies the solar god Re, symbol of rebirth and protection. This scarab is strongly influenced by the pectoral found in the tomb of Tutankhamun. Circa 1920-1930.
14-karat gold hallmarks.
