"Important Portrait Of Pope Leo XIII XIXth"
Important full-length portrait representing Pope *Leon XIII seated on his throne with his feet resting on a red cushion with gold embroidery. Leo XIII, wearing a white skullcap and an ivory white cassock, wears a golden cross around his neck. In his right hand he holds a quill for writing on a sheet of paper placed on an altar decorated with a cloth. red with gold embroidery on which we find an inkwell and a table bell. Original frame and canvas (small old restoration) This important portrait is presented in its original walnut frame carved with papal attributes (pontifical tiara and keys of St Peter) which retains its gilding with period gold leaf in perfect condition. Italian school from the end of the 19th century Provenance Castle in the Occitanie region *Vincenzo Gioacchino Raffaele Luigi Pecci, born March 2, 1810 in Carpineto Romano and died July 20, 1903 in Rome, is the 256th bishop of Rome and therefore "successor of Peter » and pope of the Catholic Church, whom he governed under the name Leo XIII (Latin name: Leo XIII; Italian name: Leo XIII) from 1878 to 1903. He is buried in the Basilica of Saint John Lateran , Rome Cathedral. His pontificate was one of the longest in history, along with those of Pius IX and John Paul II.
