Édouard Goerg, born in Sydney (Australia) in 1893 and died in Callian (Var) in 1969, is a French expressionist painter, engraver and illustrator. Student of Paul Sérusier and Maurice Denis at the Ranson Academy in Paris from 1913 to 1914.
From 1920, he became one of the major figures of French expressionism.
A whole period of his work also brings him closer to surrealism, notably his work in the field of lithography. As an illustrator, he creates numerous bibliophile books.
He became president of the Society of French Painters-Engravers from 1945 to 1958.
Women are one of his favorite themes, which recurs in several periods.
The best known is that of the Flower Women with their discreet and serene melancholy.
