bears on the reverse the mark of the canvas merchant "Blanchet, 20 rue Saint Benoit, Paris", active at this address between 1887 and 1905.
First a student of Diday in Switzerland, Amédée Baudit came to perfect his technique in Paris then in Bordeaux in 1867. He liked to draw inspiration from the South of France and French coasts in its landscapes. In 1853, he exhibited painting subjects taken from French sites: The approach of the storm; souvenir of Auvergne, and Interior of wood; Pyrenees. At the Universal Exhibition of 1855, he exhibited six paintings as a painter of the Swiss School. He exhibited in Geneva, Lyon, Bordeaux and at the Paris Salon from 1861 and continued to send paintings to exhibitions in Paris and Bordeaux until 1890.
