Object description :

"Pewter Wine Pitcher (estanho) - Portugal, 18th Century"
Pewter baluster PITCHER with cylindrical base and ogee foot, quarter-round cup, domed lid with plain curved thumb.
Poorly legible property mark (?) affixed to the lid.
Very incompletely legible bruised hallmark on the exterior background of Joze Antonio FRIAS active from 1701.
Height: 24.7 cm.
PORTUGAL (Porto), First half of the 18th century


Good condition, with marbled patina. This pitcher has most likely never been scrubbed.
Productions from this provenance are very rare (even there...!) and most often unmarked.
