"Regence Commode, Crowned R Bronzes Around 1740, 18th Century "
Exceptional and Rare Regency Commode with Bronzes on the Crowned R, circa 1740, from the first part of the 18th century. It is in Violet wood veneer, with inlaid decoration called "à la Reine", composed of trellis enclosing small flowers in sets of tinted and gridded crosspieces. Its Tray is also in Marquetry with the Decor of a Large Central Medallion, surrounded by a Gilt Bronze Astragalus. It opens on the front with 3 large drawers with its 3 locks and its original key. Very Rich ornamentation of Bronzes with Decor of Characters on the Falls, The Handles are "Chinese", and the Lock Entrances are Decorated with Characters surmounted by a Crown. Some Bronzes bear the Famous Hallmark with the “crowned R” which authenticates the period under Louis XIV. Our chest of drawers has its frame in softwood and oak. It is in very good condition. It measures 128 CM in length, 67 CM in depth and 86 CM in height.
