Roger Capron was born in Vincennes on September 4, 1922, is a renowned French ceramic artist. He studied first at the École des Arts Appliqués in Paris, then at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. In the 1940s, he worked briefly with the renowned Swiss ceramist Jean Derval. In 1946, Capron founded his own ceramics studio in Vallauris, on the Côte d'Azur. This region had already been renowned for its pottery since the arrival of Picasso in the 1940s. Here, Capron developed his distinctive style, blending organic forms with abstract motifs.
In the 1950s and 1960s, Capron enjoyed increasing success, exhibiting his work in prestigious galleries and museums around the world.
His creations, ranging from vases to ceramic tiles and coffee table, are distinguished by their bright colors and bold geometric patterns. Roger Capron died on November 8, 2006, leaving behind him a lasting legacy in the world of ceramics and design.
