Iranian carpet from Khorasan, North-East of Iran, kurk wool (fine wool taken by combing from lambs), cotton warp and weft, circa 1970-80. Very good state. Strong, durable and comfortable mat.

Splendid Kashmar in 'mianfarsh' format with 'zilralki' decor. This decor finds its inspiration in historical Persian monuments (bridges, palaces) as well as in the ruins of Persepolis (columns, bas-reliefs, vases). Also represented, in medallions, are ancient Persian scenes (people, animals) reminiscent of the carpets of Kashan and Tabriz. We find in the upper part of the carpet, above a long cartouche (writing in ancient Farsi), two winged dogs (the Aralez) holding keys in their paws and which would have the power to resurrect the dead. Above, a soothing scene symbolizes eternity, paradise.
