"Chiffonniere Table In Burl Ash"
Chiffon table / Snack table. Transition from the Louis XV and Louis XVI eras. 18th century around 1760. Work certainly from the Bresse region. Rare model in terms of its design and the wood used. This piece of furniture, all sides, has a front simulating three drawers on one side and a niche as well as a drawer on the other side. It rests on two sheathed feet and two arched feet ending in bronze shoes and casters making it easier to use. The top is made of Saint Anne gray marble. This table is made of solid curly ash for the uprights, ash burl veneer (or burl) on a walnut core for the four sides. The veneer is a nice thickness. Finally, the upper part in which the marble is embedded is in tinted curly sycamore maple. Walnut and oak were used for the walls. These country woods give this chiffonier table warm tones and the burl wood panels offer very shimmering designs. The selection of ash burl leaves was particularly rigorous. It can be noted that on the facade simulating the three drawers and the two protruding crosspieces a single magnifying sheet is used. Likewise, the upper and lower crossbars of the niche are made of solid ash burl. Finished with varnish with redone pad. Dimensions: L 38 x D 32.5 x H 75
