BERNE, End of the 17th century

In very good condition and early in the period, the vast majority of these ewers date from the 18th and 19th centuries.
Bibliography:
“Die Zinngiesser der Schweiz und ihre Marken” by Schneider and Kneuss
"Zinn” by Hanns-Ulrich Haedeke
“Tin en tinnegieters nederlands” by B.Dubbe
This typology with a long straight and oblique tubular weir was most probably born in the Netherlands at the end of the 16th century. We see numerous examples of this type of vessel in iconography, for example in the paintings of Rambrandt who often represented ewers close to this typology in these “still lifes”.
