"André Vincent Becquerel, Bronze Carp Sculpture, 20th "
Carp sculpted in bronze. Its scales are enhanced by a golden patina. The statuette is mounted on a slightly damaged base (see photo).

André Vincent Becquerel (1893-1981) was a French sculptor.  He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris under Hector Lemaire and Prosper Lecourtier. He produced numerous animal sculptures: felines, horses, cats and ornithological subjects, notably for the Salon de la Société des Artistes Français from 1914 to 1922.

Becquerel executed numerous decorative sculptures, with a preference for wild animals. At the 1937 Exposition Universelle in Paris, he exhibited a monumental sculpture in patinated plaster for the International Pavilion.
