"Biombo Mask - Democratic Republic Of Congo "
Biombo - Democratic Republic of Congo - Very beautiful and large Tshimwana helmet mask, entirely covered with geometric and coloured motifs. Complete with its headdress, the top is missing. Wood, pigments, animal skins, the face entirely encircled with cowrie shells. Iron plate in the middle of the forehead.
The Biombo are a small population surrounded by the Kuba, from whom they separated several hundred years ago. They live at the confluence of the Lulua and Kasai rivers, in the south of the DRC, between Luebo in the north and Mutombo further west.
