Object description :

"Paris 1798-1809 – Important Sterling Silver Handled Tumbler By B.s. Trotin, "1er Coq" Mark"
Cylindrical tumbler or litron goblet said “timbale d’officier” in solid silver by master goldsmith Blaise-Simon TROTIN. The totally plain body finely engraved with the monogram ADC in English letter, the neoclassical handle decorated with a delicately engraved laurel frieze on a guilloché back.

Hallmarks:
•    1er coq 1er titre (French mark for solid silver 950/1000 in Paris between 1798 and 1809).
•    Paris Guarantee.
•    Association of goldsmiths : tête de femme grecque avec le chiffre 1.
•    Master goldsmith: BST une tête d’ange for Blaise-Simon TROTIN.
•    Very good condition.

These gobelets tumbler with handles were intended for officers on military campaigns. They are particularly rare, especially in such a good condition.

Blaise-Simon TROTIN is a goldsmith specializing in gobelets, tumblr and cups. He is located in Paris 45 rue Saint-Germain-l’Auxerrois. He works between 1798 and 1808.
