Royal Taxation Louis XV: Aid Due To King, Seal Of General Farmer , Languedoc
Beautiful object from 18th century, coming from a collection from Avignon, established 19th century, our wax seal is from our Regency or Louis XV period. Brass seal, oval, tool engraved of a 3 denier coat of arms, under royal crown of France, entitled: Equivalent of Languedoc. The research (thanks to Wiki, thank you) on this seal was interesting and allowed me to note this:
"In France, under the Ancien Régime, the equivalent is the name given to aid due to the king and specific to Languedoc. The States of Languedoc lease it for six years. It brought in 340,000 pounds at the end of the 17th century and 1,375,000 pounds in 1788. Of this sum, Languedoc paid 200,000 pounds to the king. The considerable surplus is used for the administration and equipment of the province. "at the Revolution: termination of the lease passed by the former states of Languedoc to Pierre Bellocq, of the farm of law known under the name of equivalent" Reassembled on this oak mushroom turned in 1871, by the former collector, following the donation from Mr. Canron…
