Object description :

"Painting Portrait Of Grenadier Soldier Of The Ward Regiment Of The Empire Guard Napooléon 1st"
Charming portrait of a soldier from the Wards or pupils of the Guard regiment, Empire period around 1811-1815.
The Pupilles de la Garde regiment was created in August 1811 from the two battalions of royal Dutch velites (generally orphaned sons of soldiers who died in service), this corps would number up to 9 battalions.
Our painting is painted on wood, deliberately leaving the wood-colored background, many talented artists have represented soldiers in this way including Alphonse de Neuville and Hippolyte Bellangé (1800-1866), our oil on panel is signed lower right but I I couldn't decipher it.
the varnish needs to be reviewed like the frame.
Probably painted around 1860-1880.
The panel measures 21cm x 14cm.
