This oil on canvas is from the 19th century, it is a repeat of the painting "Bull rubbing against a tree" by Jean Raymond Brascassat presented at the Paris Salon in 1835, there is a name in the signature but we cannot get it to read. This work was executed with great mastery and great precision. Jacques Raymond Brascassat, born Jacques Brascassat on August 30, 1804 in Bordeaux and died in Paris on February 28, 1867, is a French painter and etcher. Note friction on the paint as well as cracks and small fungus. The stuccoed gilded frame is damaged in many places. The work is sold uncleaned, unrestored.
