"Small Pewter Alcohol Pitcher - Rouen, 18th Century"
Small baluster-shaped pewter PITCHER with flared foot, flared throat and tasseled thumbscrew.
Hallmark of Robert Toussaint BAILLARD received master in 1743: crowned rampant lion / RTB
Control hallmark: crowned inverted C / 90 / R. (In Rouen the checks were updated very regularly, the hallmark of 1791 is known and therefore allows us to date precisely this small pitcher from the year 1790)
Height: 9.7 cm.
ROUEN, from the year 1790.
In beautifull dark patina, has probably never been scrubbed.
Consolidation of the upper attachment of the handle.
Very rare very small gauge used for alcohols.
Bibliography: “Norman tins” by Jean-Claude Commenchal, on sale in this gallery.
