Object description :

"Trumeau Mirror With Lamps And Oil Painting On Canvas - Louis XVI Period - 18th - France"
Magnificent Large trumeau mirror Dating from the 18th century Louis XVI period. The trumeau is in Rechampi green and gilded lacquered wood. It consists of an original mirror in the lower part and a very pretty oil on canvas in the upper part. On each side of the mirror is a 2-branched candle holder. The painting, oil on canvas, represents a pretty and delicate landscape with a figure probably representing a Neapolitan fisherman. On the right are antique-inspired columns. Very elegant and very decorative. The harmony that emerges from this wonderful trumeau mirror allows it to be made a central piece in any room, above a fireplace, a marble table or above a chest of drawers or any other furniture. The superb proportions of the trumeau and its pretty colors make it a timeless and impressive wall decoration.
From the Louis 16 period, this large trumeau is a true collector's item, a vestige of French History. The Louis XVI style was born in France and was exported throughout Europe and then throughout the world. The antique and classic style greatly influenced Louis XVI style furniture and was one of its themes. The attraction to classicism is felt in the design of the furniture. The proportions and volumes are balanced, the elegance is sober and refined; The Petit Trianon, in the park of the Palace of Versailles, offered by King Louis XVI to Queen Marie-Antoinette, is a good example of the Louis XVI style: its inspiration comes from Greek antiquity, its lines are clearly straight, but for all this, a certain lightness emerges. Louis XVI leaves numerous traces of his passage and his investment in the Place de Versailles. Louis XVI period furniture is extremely elegant, geometric and of high quality. Like this magnificent trumeau mirror.
