Nice little khaki green glazed earthenware wine barrel with 2 handles (in perfect condition),
Its 2 different side endings allowed the barrel to be propped against a wall on its flat side, or to place it vertically on this surface. The other side ends in a shell shape.
Decorated with relief pastillages
Saintonge Workshops from 17th century
Dimensions 23 cm diameter, 26 with the handle and 27cm length (or height!)
Its unusual size and shape, very small and very potbellied or rounded, differentiates it from the models that I had in the past.
Good general condition: the cover is partially present due to its original enameling, and its daily use over the centuries.
Minor lack to the border of the opening (plaese check photos). No restoration to the handles or the neck
Very nice and decorative element for a kitchen, with copper or other noble pewter.
