Seascape painting in Brittany oil painting on canvas signed G.LAPORTE (Georges Laporte 1926-2000) countersigned on the back by the artist and located in Brittany in "St Pierre" (Quiberon). Beautiful composition of the coastline of the peninsula animated by vigorous and raw touches of paint which combine with a powerful palette of pastel colors punctuated by an alchemy of the material in high relief which energizes the landscape with a refined play of 'shadow and light. This work is displayed in a gilded wooden frame. Very good general condition, dimensions: 71 cm He married Jeannine of Chalonnaise origin and spent a few years in Burgundy in the villages of Chalon and Givry, where he painted numerous views. At the dawn of the 60s he discovered Brittany and decided to set up his workshop in Quiberon. Some evoke a relief painting in reference to Nicolas de Staël, a parallel is also made with Georges Mathieu to describe the technique of Georges Laporte which is sometimes reminiscent of Vlaminck in his rural drama. Guillermet, publisher in Villefranche sur Saône and friend of Colette and Utrillo, encourages Laporte to exhibit in Lyon in the Petersen gallery, it will be a great success. Furthermore the Mischkind Gallery in Lille which liked to exhibit its friend Georges Laporte considering the work of the painter sincere; sensitive; passionate and fiery, whose lumpy material plays with flat areas which offer us an astonishing naturalistic vision bathed in true light. The friendly relations which united the painter Georges Laporte (1926-200) with Raphaël and his son Georges-Raphaël Mischkind are at the origin of the creation of the famous Lille gallery founded in 1962, the Mischkind gallery, which defended many of artists from the North, such as Van Hecke and Kijno, and presented in the provinces Fernand Léger, Raoul Dufy or the drawings of Picasso, ceased its activities in 2009.
