Convertible bed cabinet in walnut. Furniture designed by cabinetmaker Charles Jospeh Jeanselme at the beginning of the 20th century in his workshops in Faubourg Saint-Antoine. Transformable furniture that can be used as a secretary, dressing table and bed. The lower part has three small niches with doors, used for storage. In the bed position, the sides of the furniture open to reveal small shelves. Metal slats. The bed bars are made of brass. The secretary position reveals 2 shelves for storing mail and a space with an inkwell for writing supplies. The toilet part articulates a mirror and a tray covered with imitation. A copy is visible at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris. Jeanselme is a Parisian family of cabinetmakers active from 1824 to the end of the 19th century. Suppliers to the court of Louis-Philippe and Napoleon III, they produced stylish furniture and original creations. The Jeanselme Père et Fils house was made up in 1856 of Joseph Pierre François and his son Charles Joseph Marie.
