"Moving Low Children's Chair Or "warmer". Louis XVI Period. Eighteenth Century"
Moving low chair with high back and without armrests from the Louis XVI period and the end of the 18th century. Right backrest. With its beautiful old gray lacquer. Many small chips. The straight legs have rough grooves. Presence of a simple and rustic H-shaped crotch. Initially, the seat base consisted of horsehair trim and was supported by straps. A first restoration must have been carried out at the beginning of the 19th century, the presence of springs between straps and horsehair testifying to the renovation at that time. Unfortunately, since then, both the filling and the tapestry with large wool stitches have become worn and threadbare. The piece of furniture remains no less astonishing. This chair bears witness to the beautiful country productions of the "ending old regime", perhaps for a child or for use "by the fireside"... Seat height: 40 cm.
