Christ on the cross very close to the Anton Van Dyck of the Notre Dame church in Bruges. (see photo, old postcard) The painting was previously re-canvased, retouched in the backgrounds. The frame, slightly too large in width, is a 19th century work from an old sculpted wooden molding reassembled and entirely re-gilded with interior ornamentation added in stucco. The whole thing is beautifully elegant with a very beautiful patina.
