Musical Snuff Box With Miniatur Painting (music Box)

Music box made in Switzerland in the mid-19th century. This rare snuffbox plays 2 melodies, on a comb made up of several small pieces. (Until the middle of the 19th century, it was not yet possible to make a comb in one piece). The box is made of pressed horn and the lid is decorated with a miniature painting. The miniature is behind glass and depicts a mountain landscape with a waterfall. On the front, the control buttons are decorated with mother-of-pearl. Due to its overall condition this piece can be described as very exceptional, with all damage and signs of use indicating a past marked by care and dedication. It is over 100 years old and therefore has some defects which correspond to the age of the object.
