Bronze by FREDERIC REMINGTON, named: “BUFFALO HORSE”. Signed and dated in the molding on the base “BUFFALO HORSE BY FREDERIC REMINGTON”. Sculture representing the ritual of the buffalo race by the American Plains Indians. A Native American hunter is shown trying to overpower and bring down the bison, but the roles are reversed and the bison climbs under the horse and throws the hunter into the air. This bronze's original cast of the buffalo horse is on display at the GILCREASE MUSEUM IN TULSA, OKLAHOMA. The sculpture is mounted on a green marble base with an engraved brass plaque.
