"The Piroguiers Bronze Sculpture By Vincent Becquerel (1893-1981)"
The bronze canoeists after André Vincent Becquerel (1893-1981) green-brown patina signed and stamped "BRONZE" at the rear of the canoe. André Vincent Becquerel (1893-1981) Becquerel studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris with Hector Lemaire and Prosper Lecourtier. He specialized in animal sculptures, particularly felines, horses, cats and ornithological subjects, which he exhibited from 1914 to 1922 at the Salon de la Société des Artistes Français. He was an elected member of society. His bronze works were mainly cast by Edmond Etling, but also by Max Le Verrier, and often included ivory elements. For the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1937, he created a monumental plaster statue.
