Porcelaine de Paris
Service of 10 pieces
Painted and gilded hard porcelain
Paris, second third of the 19th century
Dimensions : H. maximum 18 ; W. maximum 25 (cm.)
A superb and rich porcelain service, decorated with arabesques in blue and gold. It includes a coffee pot, a teapot, a milk jug and a sugar bowl, all quadrangular with cut sides, as well as six dodecagonal cups and their saucers.
Jacob Petit
A brilliant draughtsman and technician, he revitalised the field of hard porcelain, whose main factories gradually ran into difficulties under the July Monarchy. Unfortunately, Jacob Petit was not spared, and his sense of renewal through themes from "elsewhere": Ottoman, Far Eastern and Iberian models, as well as his ability to produce rich polychromy and gilding, did not prevent him from going bankrupt in 1848...
Condition report: excellent condition, one chip to the sugar bowl and minor wear to the saucers.
