"Original Pair Of Mounted Vases Forming Bouquetières.paris, Circa 1880"
Delicate Pair of Vases forming Bouquetières in faceted glass with a purple background, the gilded metal frame preciously carved with ornamental motifs of Louis XVI inspiration. Parisian work from the last third of the 19th century. Circa 1880. --------- Equipped with seven small tubular vases set on their neck and their middle part with rings with openwork motifs of flowers, acanthus florets or tigelles and flowered ivy leaves surrounded with a string of pearls, each Bouquetière is embellished on its noticeably flared perimeter with a gilded metal frame. Like fine lace, the latter, embellished on its circular base with ears of corn, acanthus florets and palmettes, and chiseled beads in a frieze, is decorated with small ornate balusters; on either side of their Ionic capitals topped with a flowered vase, flourish, arranged in festoons, pretty garlands mixing with their rustic foliage and spring flowering. At the heart of the structure, raised on a ring, three uprights are adorned with ample grained acanthus leaves. The latter enclose the central tubular vase with a greater height than those radiating at the edge of this most original composition. The whole rests on an elegant quadripod base with stylized winding adorned with a cartouche centered with a mirror, a string of piastres and flanked by branches of leafy myrtle. --------------- A Trinket as original as it is sophisticated: Living Room Trinket, Boudoir Trinket, etc. among those equally refined, delicately feminine which adorned the flying tables, the delicious Bonheurs-du -Day, the pretty Dressers or Dressing Tables of young or mature Elegant people of yesteryear, this delightful pair of Vases-Bouquetières revives the imagination of a loving century just as in the 18th century gallantly leafing out Carte du Tendre and floral symbolism. "Charming pleasure" executed and distributed probably by a Parisian Novelty Store, this original or even singular duo of vases mounted on their bodies surrounded by sophisticated shades of "L'Impériale Violette" must have welcomed in its fragile receptacles equally delicate and light flowers such as Nasturtiums, Violets, Wallflowers, Veronicas, Daisies, etc. Like "fancy or ornamental flowers", small exotic plants exquisitely presented in planters, mini-greenhouses decorating interiors Parisians of the 19th century, this fleeting flowering formed a feminine echo to the thoughts of a young lady or lady who then sensitively mastered the tender symbolism of floral language. Today, this trinket, as original in its form as it is sophisticated in its powdery and shimmering chromaticism, its fine floral ornamentation with feminine Louis XVI accents will appeal to any Collector who loves the delicacies of Yesteryear, mixing fantasy and reverie. -------------------------- Parisian work in Louis XVI style from the last third of the 19th century.
