"It's Finished, Bronze Sculpture Signed C Anfrie"
Bronze subject representing a soldier, head bowed and hands in his pockets for whom the fight has stopped and all seems lost, the butt of his rifle at his feet and the barrel on the other side. Charles Désiré Pierre Anfrie is a discreet French sculptor about whom we don't know much. He was born on April 1, 1833 in Paris and died in 1905. He entered the school of fine arts and was admitted at a very young age to the studio of Eugène Antoine Aizelin (1821 - 1902). He was only 19 years old when he exhibited his first work at the Salon des Artistes Français. He mainly created numerous sculptures which refer to historical and mythological themes.
