"Dutch Chest In Oak Wood From The 16th Century"
Rare Dutch chest in oak wood decorated at the back with long hinges, side handles from the 16th century, period between 1584 and 1702. This piece of furniture is commonly called a domed chest, rests on two parallel bases; we discover an interior probably used for the transport of gold coins, valuables or simply weapons and gunpowder. It is not excluded that this chest could have been used in naval transport. It should be noted the presence of a paper escutcheon inside the partially removed chest where we note a certain number of writings which seem to correspond to a period in history when war raged between the Netherlands and neighboring states. With their commercial organization, the Netherlands aroused jealousy, particularly in England, which opened hostilities in 1652 with the first Anglo-Dutch war. This chest is an interesting piece of history
