"Kashan Rug, Persian, 130 X 205 Cm, Kork Wool Hand-knotted In Iran Circa 1960, In Very Good Condition"
Finely hand-knotted Kashan rug in Kork wool circa 1960, measuring 130 cm wide by 205 cm long. The central motif, with small, very elegant juxtaposed floral medallions, has two important, delicately designed pendants, knotted horizontally on the carpet. The medallion represents a large stylized flower in bloom, surrounded by other numerous flowers and interlacing covering the field. The flowers found there are roses, lotus, but also the white pistachio flower, a tree very present in Iran in the Kirman region. The decor is rich and abundant, flowers, branches, palm leaves and stylized palmettes flood the carpet with beautiful symmetry but without suffocating this precious decor; The border made up of varied motifs, alternating palmettes and branches, lotus flowers and peonies, is inspired by ancient models from Herat. This entire piece is in very good condition, the velvet clean, the edges impeccable, the fringes short. The general condition is very good, there is no pile reduction, the fine Kork wool used is of first quality. Kork wool is the softest and silkiest wool taken from the first shearing of lambs, mainly under the neck and belly. The numerous colors are fresh and relatively soft, of quality, without loss of color and not exposed. They set the tone for a timeless style of Persian rug, in the five-century-old tradition of this type of rug. This beautiful old carpet comes from Persia, Iran, it was knotted in the second half of the 20th century. Kashan (Kachan, Keshan): large city in central Iran. During the Persian Renaissance, Kashan was the center of carpet production of legendary splendor. Finely woven carpets, of very rich composition, were knotted by the royal factory of Shah Abbas. They have become the centerpieces of museums and private collections. Craftsmanship was interrupted in Kashan between the Afghan invasion (1722) and the end of the 19th century. The revival of carpet production began with carpets which are distinguished by the superior quality of the wool giving an extremely velvety appearance. These examples are called Kashan Motashemi, named after the most famous master weaver of the late 19th century. The settings are varied and meticulously crafted: hunting scenes, figured subjects inspired by Persian mythology, birds in a plant setting, trees of life. Thanks to the superior quality of the wool, their tight knotting, the beauty of their natural colors and their designs, the Kashan took their place among the best Persian rugs. This rug has been professionally and ecologically cleaned. FREE SHIPPING FOR FRANCE as for all of our rugs, small or large!
