"Monstrance Of Sainte Réparate And Saint Fructueux - 18th Century "
Two important notable ex-ossibus relics are offered to view, in this large wooden monstrance covered with silvered copper. The embossed copper plaques depict laurels, a traditional attribute of the Martyrs in Christian iconography. The Laurel is a symbol of eternity. The border is further enriched with seven stones, set after being cut and symmetrically positioned.
The two martyrs of the first centuries are: In the lower part, relics bagged in the shape of a heart, honor Ste Reparatae, Martyred at the age of 15 in Caesarea of Palestine. His body would have miraculously arrived in Nice in a boat guided by a dove and decorated with roses, lilies and palm leaves. On the upper part, we find a large relic, also under gauze of St Fructuoli, undoubtedly it is Saint Fructueux, bishop of Tarragona, martyred in 259. Our relics are presented in a set worked with silver threads and pearls.
The monstrance itself fits into an independent base.
On the back are three red wax seals, emblazoned with the monogram of Christ, authenticating the relics presented.
