Rare, precious and large (29cm height) candlestick or torch, in bronze / brass, from Gothic period (2nd half of 15th century)
The bell-shaped base supports a stretched shaft with 4 rings.
The double light binet - on both sides, is characteristic from this Gothic period, each time with a double rectangular opening in height surmounted by a round, allowing the extraction of excess melted wax, and remaining architectural windows of Gothic churches .
This typology of candelsticks can generally be dated between 1450 and 1500. (Please check on last photo a documentation collected several similar candles)
Perfect condition: this candlestick has a nice and original patina: neither too cleaned nor polished.
Attachment of the barrel to the base is also original, without subsequent repair or reinforcement.
