Jean Tarrit (1865-1950) traveled to Morocco on several occasions from 1910 onwards, the scenes of daily life inspiring him with subjects presented at the salon of the society of French orientalist painters as well as the colonial society of French artists. Holder of a colonial scholarship, he settled in Tangier where he died in 1950. Member of the society of French artists, he was distinguished by numerous prizes, including that of the 1st gold medal, out of competition, from the society of French artists for "Bedouin and camel nursing her young" in 1913, exhibited at the colonial exhibition of 1931.
