Antique Georgian Wax Seal Wheel Gilt With Stone Intaglio Desk Stamp

Rare wax seal wheel in finely chiseled gilded metal, including 6 intaglios (see description below) and a mother-of-pearl handle.

Detail of the intaglios:
- Gray chalcedony; a pigeon holding a letter in its beak with the inscription above it " Répondez-vite" ("Reply quickly").
- Amethyst; a letter with the inscription on it “A letter softens the pains or absence”.
- Blue glass paste imitation of turquoise; a bird on a branch with the inscription around it " Mon amour dure après la mort" ("My love lasts after death").
- Amethyst; "Tho lost to sight to memory dear".
- Blood jasper; “Better late than never.”
- Citrine; "Forgive and forget"
