Gilded bronze statue representing a sparkling Mexican dancer twirling with her hat in hand. Signed Claire Jeanne Roberte Colinet, this work is from the early 20th century (Art-Deco period). The patina is original and has retained gray/blue reflections in the drape of the dress. Base in crafted beige/orange veined onyx with a brass finish (note that this 8 cm high base is included in the height indicated). Perfect condition of presentation, particularly careful edition in the details and the carving, presence of slight points of oxidation, signed CL.JR Colinet. Under the support, monogram foundry seal confirmed by a second signature of the sculptor and presence of numbering. Claire Jeanne Roberte Colinet was born in Belgium in 1885. Her beginnings in sculpture proved promising, which led her to settle in Paris around 1910. She continued her training with the famous sculptor Jef Lambeaux, also of Belgian nationality. Exhibiting regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français with exotic dancers and cabaret artists as her favorite themes, Claire Jeanne Roberte Colinet obtained French nationality in 1929. Rewarded numerous times, she was promoted to Officer of the Academy in 1912 and Officer of Public Education in 1924.
