"Rare Regency Commode In Amaranth Veneer, Early 18th Century"
Rare and exceptional small "jumping" chest of drawers curved on all sides in veneer wood: Amaranth arranged in a curling pattern. It opens with two amply curved crossbow drawers with rounded corners, they are separated by a crosspiece decorated with two brass grooves. The rounded uprights decorated with a brass groove end in a arched foot. The flared and powerfully curved sides are inlaid with curling. Beautiful ornamentation of bronzes such as: encompassing clogs, buttons and rosettes, keyholes decorated with a female mask, apron centered with a rosette. The top in red Campan griotte marble (Hautes Pyrénées) is molded with a corbin beak. (old restoration on the marble) This chest of drawers remains in a very beautiful original condition with its bronzes (rear apron) and its marble , its assertive curves are the result of great know-how, we can compare it to certain models signed FL for François Lieutaud (1665-1748). Parisian work around 1725-1730.
