"Rich Rocaille Console With Its Red Marble. Late 19th Century In The Taste Of The 18th Century. Venice"
In the style of Barocchetto (1720-1770), a period of very active production carried out in the lands of Italian cultivation, here is a Venetian "consolle" (console) in beech from the end of the 19th century and in the style of the 18th . Large foliage and scrolls in gilded wood. Large and thick royal red marble top. Pronounced movement of its tall, delicately curved feet. Fat shapes in the “rococo” or rocaille style. The wood is painted in soft Celadon green tones. Created in the 17th century, and spreading under the Regency (early 18th century), the console first served as an additional piece of furniture associated with the meals of the nobles: it supports the dishes which remain waiting in the dining room . Furthermore, the console is perhaps a high, narrow living room table, designed to be leaned against a wall. It can therefore adapt to narrow spaces such as the entrance or hallway. It can support an object of art or a sculpture. It has its screw kit to be fixed to the wall. Pastiche style...deliciously kitsch...
