Iron tsuba in the shape of Mokko Gata, (four-lobed) with a bas-relief motif of chrysanthemum flowers whose pistil is enhanced with gold. The two openings Kogai bitsu and Kozuba bitsu are identical in shape. Signed: SHIGENARI, second half of the 17th century, EDO era (1600-1868) Yamashiro kuni ju Umetada shigenari, from the Umetada family residing in the province of Yamashiro, active around 1650-1700.
