Country Bonnetière In Solid Oak / Manchoise Production Louis XIV Period. Seventeenth Century

Solid oak cabinet called “bonnetière”. The piece of furniture opens with one leaf with three shelves including one forming a high drawer. This "bonnetière" or "hairdresser" was intended for storing headdresses and bonnets for members of the peasantry and the lower middle class under the Ancien Régime. They were then placed on a wooden head called a marotte or sidonie while the clothes were placed on a bedside table. This type of furniture is of Norman origin and is a quality Manche production.
