"Earthenware Plate From Lyon With Polychrome Decor Of A Grotesque Musician. 18th Century Period"
Beautiful Lyon earthenware plate with a contoured edge. Polychrome decoration of a Chinese grotesque, prettily dressed and playing a drum. He sits on a mound decorated with an imaginary flowering shrub. The wing is decorated with a garland of rocaille motifs and a fine garland of vine vines. At the edge a large blue net caught between two fine ocher nets. Very good state. Beautiful enamel. See the book “Faïence de Lyon” by Bernard Deloche at Beau Fixe. P.155, 167.
