"Door Peephole, French Medieval Ironwork, Gothic Forge, Coat Of Arms."
Beautiful medieval wrought iron, rare to find in this beautiful condition. This is the part of the peephole overlooking street, decorated with the pierced coat of arms of estate, in a frame of points and fleurons. Other side of door was defended by a small hinged gate. A particularly rare object, see the forge work on photos, iron plaque is thick, indestructible, there is a small pentimento from blacksmith visible on back. Very good condition, for an object from the 14th or 15th century, which comes from a collection in Avignon. Beautiful patinas, front and back.
Dimensions = 13.5cm x 14.5cm, depth: 1.6cm.
