In the taste of the production of Adolphe-Napoléon Didron (1806-1867)
This testimony illustrates the taste at the Restoration period for a revival of old styles.
This candlestick is solidly seated on a large tripod base, three beast legs attached to dragon bodies.
The shaft is made up of two rods stapled with hooks interposed between three nodes, the middle one of which is exposed.
The pools are buttressed by three small winged dragons.
A model close to this candlestick is referenced and listed under number 36 in the manual of bronze and goldsmith works of the Middle Ages in 1859. No maker's mark.
Traces of gilding,
completely cleaned and varnished.
Good general condition.
