"Bull Of Pius IX - Seal And Cord - 19th Century"
More than a page of writing, a page of History. This is always the main promise of an apostolic bull! Born in 1792 and died on February 7, 1878 in Rome, Pius IX was the 255th pope. Elected in 1846, his 31-year pontificate remains the longest in the history of the papacy. On our lead seal, we guess on the first face, in a grénétis, the haloed busts of Saint Paul and Saint Peter, and on the second face, also in a grénétis, under the Cross in glory, the inscription in three lines PIVS/ PAPA/ IX.
Dimensions of 43 cm by 31. Bubble on vellum in good condition – Degraded seal
